ABOUT ME
merrideth mcdowell
visual journalism
Raised in the Pacific Northwest, I am grateful to have grown up immersed in some of the best nature and culture around. I spend as much time as I can be soaking up the rain and salt water. Currently attending Western Washington University and based in Bellingham, I have found my place in the perfect micro-politan setting for a college student. I knew from a young age that I wanted to work with visual creation and am working now to finish my degrees in visual journalism and art history in Fall of 2021.

Currently, I am concentrating my work around publication, photography and digital marketing; however, I enjoy working in a wide range of settings, including design. I have spent the last few years working with small businesses to build up social media and website presences and greatly enjoy working intimately with clients. My interests and journalistic work revolve greatly around environmental journalism, the arts, portraits and illustrative design.

In other work, I have done graduation, wedding and professional photo galleries as well, and continue to add that in here and there! I also do occasional art commission and tattoo designing on the side, so I am open to more personal shoots and design as well; email me for any inquiries.

A beautiful visual presence is paramount in order for things to grow. I am a firm believer in the power of visual arts and aesthetics within all forms change and communication. I aim to include this energy with all my projects and clients as I continue to grow and create.
